A group of unidentified hackers has taken the allegedly massive voters’ data of Commission on Elections (Comelec) and launched it in a new website yesterday, April 21, as a researchable database.
The site allows any users to access the data of all register voters just by keying his/her name.
The incident happened, the same day after the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested a suspect in the previous cyberattack on the Comelec site last March 27.
According to Comelec Spokesman James Jimenez, the case was already given to NBI and is now under investigation.
He also called on the public on not to use nor share the website’s address.

"We also cannot rule out at this stage that this may be an attempt by the hackers to monetize the data they claim to have," he added.
