MMDA starts ‘Oplan Baklas’ along EDSA

The Metro Manila Development Authority already started to remove illegal posters and other campaign materials along EDSA yesterday.

According to MMDA Metro Parking Way Clearing Group Head Francis Martinez, the team has removed almost 26.5 tons of campaign paraphernalia since February 8, when ‘Oplan Baklas’ started.

Among those campaign posters that has been removed where from the campaign materials of the presidential and senatorial bets at also from the local candidates. 

"The Commission on Elections (Comelec) appointed some poster areas in which the MMDA ‘Oplan Baklas’ team will set as basis."

The confiscated campaign materials will be donated to various group, in which will recycle them into other craft items.

NAMFREL calls to put emphasis on overseas voters

The National Citizens' Movement for Free Elections (NAMFREL) said that Commission on Elections (Comelec) should find ways to increase the number of Filipino voters working overseas.

According to NAMFREL, the Comelec should explore methods of online and postal registration and voting to increase the number of Filipinos participating in Overseas Absentee Voting (OAV)

According to NAMFREL National Council Member Damaso Magbual, those Filipino overseas, are beyond the reach of politicians and cannot be bought. 

He again pointed out that there are potential on Filipino overseas in making decisive and well-informed choice.
