Get to know Issa Rodriguez

What makes you listen to a song? Is it the enchanting voice of the singer? The lyrics of the song? The genre? With Issa Rodriguez’s urban and expressive music, you can have it all!

Issa, a 4th year Music Business Management student at the Meridian International College (MINT College), managed to have numerous experiences and roles in the field of music. At the age of 21, she is already a composer, arranger, producer, choir director, musical director, and worship leader. She is also the Musical Director and Company Manager of Mint Riffs, the glee club of MINT College.

To further refine her naturally soulful and powerful voice, she participates in different trainings and classes related to music. In fact, she became one of the campers of Elements Music Camp for Singers-Songwriters last 2014 who were trained and supported by talented musicians like Ebe Dancel, Ryan Cayabyab, and Jungee Marcelo.

The multi-talented singer-songwriter can often be heard singing a mix of pop, ballad, soul, and some jazz music.

Her voice, which perfectly blends with the sound of her acoustic guitar, can surely capture the heart and soul of her listeners. Her listeners can also relate to her collection of original songs with deeply moving lyrics and beautiful melodies that were inspired by true-to-life stories. Unan, for instance, was written for her three closest friends who were going through some obstacles. On the other hand, many may eventually remember their first crush with her original song, Misteryoso.

Issa’s first launched all-original Extended Play was released in digital outlets last October 2016. You can also listen to her songs on her YouTube channel or to her regular shows and gigs at Luna CafĂ©, BGC, and the City Club, Alphaland.

This coming Saturday at 6 pm, catch Issa Rodriguez in the ‘Only Indie Philippines’ segment hosted by DJ Dex only on Energy FM!
